Bruin Country Principal's Update (Schedule PIck-up and First Day of School)
Posted 7/31/19

Hello Bruin Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2019/2020 school year.  We are excited to see you all. In order to streamline and simplify the first day of school, we are making a couple of changes from previous years.

Any student who gets their schedule on Schedule Pick-up Day and remembers to bring that schedule on the first day of school may go straight to class, by-passing the line in the cafeteria.  If a student visits their counselor and a change is made to their schedule after schedule pick-up day, the counselor will print out a new copy that the student can use on the first day of school.  There is always the possibility, albeit unlikely, that we will need to alter a schedule for master schedule reasons, but we will notify families if this happens.

Step #1 - Proof of Residency: Completed this year at Wilcox HS through Friday, August 2.

Step #2 - Schedule Pick-up Day: All students bring the green form they received when they completed Proof of Residency.  On this day, students will submit that green form, receive their photo ID, and pick up their schedule.

  • Grade 12 - Friday, August 2, 8:00 - 9:00 am
  • Grade 11 - Friday, August 2, 9:30 - 10:30 am
  • Grade 10 - Friday, August 2, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
  • Grade 9 - Wednesday, August 7, 8:00 am - 1:00 pm (part of the Freshman Orientation)

Step #3 - Visit Counselors for Schedule Corrections (only if needed)

  • Grade 12 - Friday, August 2, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Grade 11 - Monday, August 5, 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Grade 10 - Tuesday, August 6, 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Grade 9 - Wednesday, August 7, 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Step #4 - First Day of School: Bring your schedule and go straight to class (skip the lines) on August 15.

  • NOTE: First Period will start at 8:00 am on August 15, and normal schedules will start on Friday.

Before attending classes, all students must have completed Proof of Residency, submitted the green form, received their photo ID, and be in possession of their official schedule.  If a student does not have their schedule on the first day of school (either because they haven’t completed a step or misplaced their schedule), they will need to go to the cafeteria on the first day of school between 7:00 am and 8:00 am to complete any missing steps and receive their schedule.
