I  was born and raised in Sacramento, California. I earned my bachelor's degree in History, teaching credential, and master's in education at the University of California at Davis. I earned my first teaching position at Salinas High School. I taught World History there for three years. I then earned another teaching positing at Scotts Valley High School. I taught World History, Honors World History, American Government and Economics, and International Baccalaureate History of the Americas  higher level year 2. I became a teacher at Santa Clara High School in 2016. I teach Advanced Placement European History, Civics, and Economics.

Why I am a teacher

I teach in order to make the world and our nation a better place. I teach because I believe in the promises of public education. I believe that public education is the best way to create equal opportunities for all, it is necessary for an effective democracy, and it creates socio-economic mobility. I teach because I believe that education is the best way for students to discover, believe in, and fulfill their potential for greatness. I teach so that my students can help better themselves, their communities, their nation, and the world.

I teach the social sciences because I believe they are the best tool to achieve these goals. The social sciences help people develop empathy for other people and cultures. They help people understand the world around them and their place in it.  I believe that in order to truly understand yourself (including your beliefs and values) you must understand the social sciences. The social sciences provide perspective. I also teach the social sciences so that students are grateful for what they have and so they can see the progress that humanity has made.

“In a completely rational society, the best of us would be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing civilization along from one generation to the next ought to be the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have.” Lee Iacocca
